Thanksgiving Games for Children
5 Thanksgiving games for children that are unique and fun to play. Gather the kids around and try at least of them this Thanksgiving.
Bird, Beast, Or Fish
- You have to think fast for this game.
- Everyone sits facing the leader.
- The leader points to one of the players and says either "BIRD," "BEAST," or "FISH."
- The chosen player must come up with the name of an animal that fits the category before the leader counts to ten. No repeating!
- If the player does not respond in time, she is out.
- The game continues until only one player remains. As you can guess, after a few rounds it can be hard to think of an animal that has not already been mentioned!
Thanksgiving Memory Game
- The players sit in a circle.
- The first player starts by saying, "At Thanksgiving dinner I ate turkey."
- The next player must repeat this and add another dish, "At my Thanksgiving dinner I ate turkey and cranberry."
- The third player must repeat it and add yet another dish, "At Thanksgiving dinner I ate turkey, cranberry, and stuffing."
- The game continues with each player adding an item to the menu after first listing all the previous items in the exact order they were first said.
- If a player makes a mistake he drops out and the game continues until there is just one person left.
Thanksgiving Games for Children - Popcorn Relay Race
- This game can be a bit messy, but it's well worth it to see relatives young and old playing together!
- Set bowls filled with popcorn at one side of a room and then empty bowls at the opposite side.
- Teams must transport the popcorn from the full bowl, to the empty, using a measuring cup.
- The first team to empty their popcorn bowl, wins the the game!
Note: popcorn is a choking hazard for children under three!
Thanksgiving Games for Children - Marshmallow Straws

- Take a small bucket with ice water in it and float several full size marshmallows in it.
- Then give each child a straw cut in half. (Shorter straws are easier to suck and hold the marshmallow)
- Then have a contest to see who can pick their marshmallow up in the shortest amount of time.
- And of course- everyone gets to eat any marshmallows that they can pick up!
